Environment Matters

As a company specialising in environmental solutions, we take our responsibility towards reducing the harmful impact on the environment, very seriously.  Everyone wants to take greater care of the environment and as more and more organisations focus on becoming low-impact businesses, we try to enhance their efforts by developing solutions that make positive contributions in critical ways.  

Emission control

We optimise all the routes our service vehicles follow so they spend the least possible time on the road.

We have also developed the use of alternative energy sources to help reduce power consumption – as in our solar-powered air freshener. Reducing cleanser usage is another key consideration, and we have various technologies and processes in place to achieve this. Almost all paper towels we supply for use in ablutions and bathrooms are from recycled sources.

All incoming sanitary waste has been adequately disinfected/sterilised through the use of a proprietary blend of fluids and vapours.  We perform regular auditing and monitoring processes to ensure that the waste is sterilised/disinfected according to the correct procedures and to that end we were the first company to have been granted permission to use a landfill method of disposing of sanitary waste by the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry.

We provide all Initial staff with Good Practice Guidelines and checklists that clearly set out their environmental responsibilities, and the rationale that lies behind them. We back up our frontline staff awareness and activities with regular audits from our Health, Safety and Environment team. Our environmental awareness is constantly evolving and improving.
