Corporate Social Responsibility

We were pleased when Corporate Social Responsibility started to appear higher on the business agenda, for it’s something we’ve been quietly practising for decades. We’ve developed a comprehensive range of Corporate Social Responsibility policies that best serves the needs of the community.

These policies are the way we put Corporate Social Responsibility into practice on a daily basis. They are supported by appropriate training and in-service development programmes. The thrust of all these activities is to help our organisation, and society at large, work towards a more sustainable future.

The Zenzeleni HIV/AIDS Fund, an employees’ initiative, is the company’s vehicle to making a contribution to the fight against the pandemic.

The Company donated a 21 acre property to the community at Blue Hills, which has developed into a multi-purpose community project called the ‘Thusanang Development Association’. The property, with contributions from the Rotary Club of SA , the Gauteng Department of Social Services and Amalgamated Beverage Industries, is used for:

• An HIV/AIDS orphanage,
• Agricultural projects,
• Computer training
• Other community activities.

Our philosophy of “a hand up, not a hand out” has not only ensured that the management and staff of the Company become actively involved in these projects, but has resulted in recipients becoming more self reliant and focused.
